In previous episodes, we saw the importance of not skipping steps. Each step has a purpose, and each step prepares us for the next one.
Today, let’s look at Joseph’s journey. Lessons Joseph needed to learn When we read about Joseph’s life, we see that God had already shown him his future through his dreams. However, at that stage, Joseph spoke too much about what God had revealed to him. He shared his dreams with his brothers without fully grasping the potential consequences. This stirred up jealousy and hatred among his brothers. There are things God shows you that aren’t meant to be shared with everyone immediately.
The process teaches us discretion, wisdom, and the right time to speak.
The breaking for formation
God broke him to mold him. Before Joseph became the prime minister of Egypt, he went through several stages. He was thrown into a pit. He was sold as a slave. He served in Potiphar’s household. He spent time in prison. None of these stages were failures; they were part of the training God was conducting in his life.
Perhaps, had Joseph not gone through all these experiences, he would not have possessed the maturity to handle the great responsibility God would later entrust to him. That is why God sometimes allows us to go through seasons that break our pride and teach us humility, discipline, and patience.
God’s presence makes the difference.
Despite everything Joseph experienced, the Bible repeatedly states the same truth: God was with Joseph. That is what made the difference. He was a slave, but not an ordinary one; he rose to a position of responsibility among the other slaves. God’s presence caused His favor to rest upon Joseph’s life, even amidst hardships. This shows us that God’s presence does not always remove problems, but it grants us the grace and strength to get through them. Do not lose your identity.
One of the greatest tests Joseph faced was the temptation posed by Potiphar’s wife. He had the opportunity to do wrong without anyone knowing, yet he refused. He did not let the situation cause him to lose his character, nor did he allow the process to tarnish his identity. Even when everything seemed to be against him, he chose to remain faithful to God. This is a powerful lesson for us.
As you go through your own process, do not let pain, temptation, or pressure cause you to lose sight of the person God has called you to be. Hold fast to God’s presence, for it is what will help you reach the destiny He has prepared for you.
In the next episode, we will discuss how to avoid distractions while walking through the process.
