Trust the Process Series #11

October 12, 20263 minute readBy Rolanda Desir Andre

How is it going? How are you doing within the process? Are you changing your strategy? Are you changing your mindset? Are you changing the way you used to act? These are the questions we must ask ourselves.

I want to read a short passage for you from the book The 12 Ps of Spiritual Transformation that we are working on. It says: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways; who says this? The Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” God is faithful. God is faithful, and He is involved in every detail. He is in every minute detail, because He cannot change His attributes. Who remembers them? God’s attributes. God does not change. He is immutable. His faithfulness cannot change. His faithfulness will always remain the same. His faithfulness endures forever.

That is what we are saying: during the process, His way of thinking differs from ours. This means we must trust Him. We have no other choice. When He tells us: “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts,” it means that even when we do not understand what is happening, we must believe. Even when we do not understand this process, the only thing we have to do is believe. When He says His thoughts are higher than ours, it means we need to remain in His presence and know His identity.

We need to know His attributes. We need to know who He is. Because His presence is here. We used the illustration of the disciples. They were in the boat; even though Jesus was present, they were still afraid. But when Jesus reminded them of who He is when He reminded them of His power and faithfulness, they calmed down. It is the same for us. We must constantly remind ourselves of who He is. We know He is already here. Jesus is with us every day until the end of the age. He is here. Yet, that doesn’t prevent us from facing problems. It doesn’t stop us from doubting. It doesn’t keep us from feeling, at times, that things aren’t going the way we want. Therefore, remember who He is.

Do not let what we might call spiritual Alzheimer’s or spiritual dementia overtake you. Remember His promises. Remember who He says He is. Remember what He says He can do. Remember that He is faithful. That is what sustains us through the process: God’s faithfulness. Keep in mind that God’s faithfulness accomplishes things for you that your own strength could never achieve. At times, you may feel like you are drowning in the waters you are in. You might feel like you are taking on water. You might feel exhausted. You might feel like you are about to fall. Yet, why do I remain steadfast? Trust. Why am I so certain? Because I know who is with me. Because I know who God is. That is why even in the process, even in the pain, even when I cannot see; I believe. We will talk more about this in the next episode.
