The Training That Happens in Hidden Places
Have you been able to identify which stage of your process you are in?
Are you respecting each stage, or have you already tried to skip some of them?
We have already talked about the importance of not rushing through the stages of our process. Many times, we say, “The one who started will finish.” Yet somewhere along the journey, we can become discouraged, lose our direction, and stop believing in what God began.
If you started with Christ, you must trust that you will also finish with Christ.
But as you walk this journey, there is something important to understand:
The Process Is Divine
The process is not simply a series of circumstances. It is a divine process.
That means you cannot successfully complete it while separating yourself from the One who is directing it.
We cannot simply decide which stages we want to experience and which ones we want to skip. Every stage has a purpose.
If we refuse certain stages, we may miss what God intends to develop within us through them.
Consider David
David had a calling to become king. The promise was there, but before he reached the throne, there were several stages he had to go through. Those stages included humility, training, discipline, and preparation.
When we think about David as the great warrior who confronted Goliath, it is easy to forget everything that happened before that moment.
Before David became the man everyone admired, he was a young shepherd taking care of his father’s sheep. While he was in a place where almost no one could see him, while he was alone in the fields, the process was already taking place.
He did not have a great army behind him. He did not have an important position.
There was no outward sign revealing everything God had already placed inside of him.
Yet during that hidden season, David was learning how to fight.
He protected the sheep entrusted to him from predators. In 1 Samuel 17:34–37, David tells Saul that he had defended his father’s sheep from a lion and a bear.
Those experiences were developing his courage, discipline, responsibility, and confidence in God. The smaller battles were preparing him for a greater one.
The Training That Happens in Hidden Places
Often, we look at someone’s final result without seeing the process that produced it.
We see David standing before Goliath, but we do not see David alone in the field with the sheep. We see the warrior, but we do not see the training.
We see the victory, but we do not always see the preparation.
Every moment David spent alone, every season when he was overlooked, and every stage when others did not recognize his value contributed to his formation.
The hidden place was not a wasted place. It was a training ground.
And the same principle can apply to our lives. What you are experiencing privately today, what others may not see or understand could be preparing you for what God will entrust to you tomorrow.
Do not despise the stage you are in.
Do not despise the training.
Do not assume that because nobody sees what is happening, nothing is happening.
Sometimes, God prepares you privately before He uses you publicly.
The field prepared David for Goliath.
Goliath prepared David for greater responsibilities. And the journey continued preparing David for the throne.
So when you find yourself in a hidden season, ask yourself:
What is God teaching me here?
What is He developing in me?
What small battle am I facing today that may be preparing me for something greater tomorrow?
Remember:
The hidden season is still part of the process.
The training is still part of the process.
The waiting is still part of the process.
Do not rush it. Do not despise it. Let God form you through it.
We will continue our conversation in the next episode.
